The Beauty of Being Unpacked

Somewhere between the second airport vino tinto and the silence of arrival, I remembered what it felt like to be in my own skin

I didn’t start SLOJOURN because I wanted to build another travel platform.
I started it because I couldn’t find what I was looking for - and I knew I wasn’t alone.

After more than two decades in the luxury travel industry, I’d seen the best of the best. I’d stayed in jungle hideouts with private butlers, mountain retreats with Michelin stars. I’d written the glowing copy, curated the rituals, welcomed the celebrities. From the outside, it looked like the dream.

But inside? I always craved something more.
More wild. More real. More substance. The kind that leaves you breathless beneath a foreign moon, sharing stories in an unnamed cave, somewhere too sacred for WiFi and far too honest for filters.

I wanted to slow down - intentionally, not reactively.
To feel the weight of silence that the pandemic whispered, but without the trauma.
To be in places that honoured land, culture, and the pulse of something bigger than a hotel itinerary.

And I didn’t want to do it alone.

This platform was born with the hearts, hands, and sheer force of the most brilliant women I know. The ones who spend their days journeying with and building our creative studio. The ones who combed every pixel of this platform with vision, empathy, and rage at the mediocre. These women are my coven. My compass. The fabric and the flame.

We wanted design that breathed, not just impressed.
To sleep with no locks, and wake up changed.
To give back, without performance.
To carry less - and feel more.
To truly know the places we visited, not just see them.

I personally wanted to be wild in my worship of this planet, while still wrestling with being both apoplectic and hopeful about the state of it. That tension? That’s where SLOJOURN lives.

SLOJOURN was built for the ones who feel that too.

For the women who channel Indiana Jones by day and throw on a backless Jacquemus by night.
For the men who crave adventure but won’t compromise on tailoring.
For the couples who travel with palo santo and annotated poetry.
For the wanderers who understand that stillness can be the most luxurious thing of all.

And for anyone who believes that our emotional weight should matter more than our luggage.
That we carry responsibility, not just privilege, when we step onto foreign soil.

It’s for those who don’t just travel to escape, but to expand.
And yes, we hold the paradox of that.
Because travel, when done with care, forces us to meet the dissonance within ourselves - and still keep going.

So yes, SLOJOURN is a platform. But it’s also a movement.
A lovingly curated immersion into only the most soul-stirring, regenerative, design-led stays on the planet.
Each destination chosen for what it gives, not just what it looks like.
A quiet provocation asking:
Not just what the world can offer you - but what will you offer back?

This is where editorial storytelling meets purposeful escape.
Where Vogue’s sensibility meets National Geographic’s soul.
Where off-the-grid luxury still leaves your signature scent behind.

And this space, We’ve Got Baggage, is where we unpack.

Not the clothes. The real weight.
The rituals. The reflections.
The soft parts we usually leave behind.

Here you’ll find letters like this. Notes from the road.
All designed to return you - not only to yourself, but to lore, to custom, to honour.
To the grounding of the land you move through.
To the legacy you leave behind.

Because the journey isn’t just about where you land.
It’s about who you become when you get there.
And the parts of yourself you shed - and honour - along the way.

WELCOME TO SLOJOURN.
Come lightly. Come soulfully. Come home.
I welcome you on this journey with us. It’s taken us decades to curate and we hope you find your centre as you journey with us.

With love + a little wandering care,
